Experience Highlights


  • Serves with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department since 1981 and currently is a Sergeant supervising the Court Security Division. 
  • First certified Master Defensive Tactics Instructor for law enforcement personnel in the state of Washington and was also a Firearm's Instructor.
  • Member of Pierce County Sheriff's S.W.A.T Team since 1983 where he currently serves as the point man on the entry team. 
  • Since 1988, he has primarily focused specifically on the issues of school related and workplace violence.
  • He has taught over 400,000 professionals and students across the United States and in Canada about issues regarding gangs, youth violence, workplace violence, school safety and rape and assault prevention.
  • Jesus served as a committee member on the Washington State Safe Schools Advisory Committee from 1994-1998.
  • Guest instructor for F.E.M.A. at the Emergency Management Institute in Emmitsburg, Maryland, where Emergency Management Services and schools established partnerships to minimize the impact of youth violence in our nation's schools.
  • Served as a Washington State's committee member on the Governor's Youth Violence Summit for Governor Locke, in 1998.
  • Jesus has attended and completed a course taught by the United State Secret Services' National Threat Assessment Center in Washington, D.C. where targeted school and workplace violence prevention was the focus of the course.  Only 26 to 30 police officers from around the United States are accepted into this course, which is only offered four times a year.
  • Jesus has taught hundreds of school districts around the country in numerous school related issues with one of the most popular courses being lockdown development and implementation.
  • Keynote speaker for corporate America on issues relating to workplace violence and has taught to some of the largest corporations in the country.
  • Co-producer of segments of The Sheriff's Report on Comcast Cable television (Pierce County, Washington).
  • Guest on radio and T.V. talk shows including CBC radio in Canada and NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw.
  • Has written a gang reference guide for education professionals and is featured in numerous videos covering topics such as Gangs, Breaking Up Fights, Use of Force Issues, Campus Intruder Contacts and Work Place Violence.
